Straight answers to the questions we hear most. Can't find yours? Just ask.
Yes. It's a no-obligation chat about your business, what you need and how we could help. If we're a good fit, we'll send you a fixed price. If not, you'll still leave with useful next steps.
Absolutely. That's one of our specialties. We'll help you choose a structure, register your ABN and GST if you need it, set up your accounting software and get ready for your first BAS. See our new business checklist.
You must register for GST once your GST turnover reaches $75,000 a year ($150,000 for non-profits). Taxi and ride-share drivers must register regardless of turnover. Below the threshold it's optional, and there can be good reasons either way. We'll help you decide.
Yes. We set up and work in both. If you're already using one, we'll review your file and tidy it up. If you're starting fresh, we'll recommend the one that suits your business. Read Xero vs MYOB.
Yes. You pay one agreed amount each month for the work in your package. If you ever need something outside it, we'll agree the price with you before we start. See pricing.
No. We're based in Melbourne, but we're fully cloud-based and paperless, so we work with clients anywhere in Australia by phone, video call and email.
A registered BAS agent can help with GST, PAYG withholding, payroll and super reporting, and lodge your BAS. A registered tax agent can also prepare and lodge income tax returns and give broader tax advice. BVS is both, so you can keep everything in one place. You can check any agent on the Tax Practitioners Board register.
For most quarterly lodgers, BAS is due on 28 October, 28 February, 28 April and 28 July. Monthly BAS is usually due on the 21st of the following month. Lodging through a registered agent can give you extra time for some quarters. Read BAS due dates explained.
Yes, and there's no judgement. We'll reconcile the backlog, prepare any overdue lodgements and talk to the ATO with you if needed. Then we set up a simple routine so it doesn't happen again.
We use AI-assisted tools on top of your up-to-date books to show your cash flow and profit in close to real time, forecast the months ahead and flag anything unusual. Every report comes with a plain-English summary, and a person at BVS reviews it before it reaches you.
Your data stays in reputable cloud accounting software like Xero or MYOB, and you stay in control of who has access. As registered agents we're bound by the Tax Practitioners Board's Code of Professional Conduct, including confidentiality. We're happy to explain exactly which tools we use in your free consult.
Yes. We run pay runs, send payslips, report through Single Touch Payroll (STP), and calculate and pay super and PAYG withholding. We can also help you get set up before hiring your first employee.
It's easier than most people think. Once you're ready, we'll arrange access to your accounting software and ATO records with your permission and handle the handover, so there's no gap in your lodgements.
Nothing formal. It helps to know roughly what your business does, how long you've been trading, which software you use (if any) and what's worrying you most. If you're just starting, bring your idea and your questions.
It's help with the big decisions: budgets, cash-flow plans, pricing, hiring, buying equipment or changing structure. We run the numbers with you before you commit, then check in regularly to track how things are going.
